Skills. Strategies. Self-confidence.
Ariel Marsh
M.A. CCC-SLP

I first began serving children with language disorders as a dyslexia therapist at The Blosser Center in Portland, Oregon. Trained in the Orton-Gillingham instructional approach, I administered both one-on-one and small group interventions. In addition, I provided home services and taught language arts classes specifically designed for youth with dyslexia.

While serving as a Literacy Specialist for a Head Start Preschool, I collaborated with a Speech-Language Pathologist. The experience was so rewarding- for me and my students- that I decided to expand my expertise and become an SLP. I completed a post-baccalaureate program in Speech-Language Pathology at Portland State University and took a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Western Washington University in 2013.

My experience includes supporting children (and adults!) with motor speech, receptive/expressive language, fluency, auditory processing, executive function, word-finding, reading, writing, social thinking, and voice disorders. I am familiar with methods such as Michelle Garcia Winner's Social Thinking, Sarah Ward's Executive Function practices, Seeing Stars, Lidcombe Program, Visualizing and Verbalizing, the Story Grammar Marker narrative program -- and many others!

Although I find all dimensions of speech and language fascinating, my practice is primarily focused on word retrieval, literacy, meta-cognitive development, and executive functions.

I am dedicated to supporting children and their families through the challenges of language-based learning disorders.  My approach is strength-based, holistic, and child-centered.
